Steve was born in Hammond, Indiana. He accepted Christ as his Savior through the testimony of an older brother. Steve immediately got involved in a church youth group and attended camp with them. God used these experiences to call him into full-time ministry.
In 1989, Steve completed his bachelors’ degree in church ministries at Liberty University. He remained at Liberty to start work on his masters’ degree. However, he left before completing it to go home and help with the family business. In 1995 he accepted an associate pastor position over the youth and children’s ministry in Jacksonville, Florida. He also enrolled at Southern Baptist School to finish his masters’ degree in Biblical Studies while he was teaching classes there. It was completed in 1995. In 1997 he enrolled at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary to work on a Master of Divinity degree. In 1998, he took a sales position in South Florida, where he attended Grace Baptist Church in Pompano Beach. Steve eventually accepted a call to the youth pastor position at Grace. His position has since changed to pastor of Discipleship and Outreach.
It was at Grace in 1998 that Steve met and married Amy (Smith). They now have three children, Erin, Emilie and Jonathan.
